Curtain poleSold in multiples of 1cm, pole can be ordered in any single uncut length up to 250cm (approx 8 feet). If you require a pole longer than 250cm, you can order two lengths and combine them with a joining bracket. Any pole ordered that is longer than 250cm will automatically be supplied in 2 halves and will therefore require a joining bracket. For example, if you need a 350cm pole, this would require 2 lengths of 175cm pole, 2 standard brackets and 1 joining centre bracket. Theoretically, any pole length can be made up as long as you use a joining bracket between each span of pole. BracketsAll poles will need at least 2 brackets. Standard brackets have the backplate running vertically and need approx. 100mm of space to fit. They provide good support for poles and are the best choice if space permits. Centre brackets have the backplate running horizontally, taking up less vertical space when fitted above a window frame where space between frame and ceiling can be limited. We would recommend an additional centre bracket for any pole over 200cm for heavier weight curtains. Brackets are available with narrow sleeves or wide joining sleeves. Standard centre brackets have narrow sleeves for single spans of pole whereas joining centre brackets have wider sleeves to join 2 lengths of pole together. Where a pole will be fitted into a recess or where one end butts up against a wall, recess brackets can be used. We will check with you before dispatching if there is any uncertainty about the order. Special instructions or clarifications can also be submitted in the comments box at the checkout stage. Curtain ringsIf you are not sure of the number of rings required (as determined by your curtain maker or supplier) a good guide is to use 1 ring to every 10cm of pole. Round up if this will lead to an odd number so that a pair of curtains will always have the same number of rings each side (e.g. a 250cm pole would require 26 rings not 25). Heavier curtains will glide more easily along the pole with more rings as this spreads the weight more evenly. Finials and HoldbacksFinials not only add the finishing flourish to your pole but they also serve to stop the curtain slipping off the end! Finials and Holdbacks can be ordered as single items rather than in pairs to allow flexibility. Some styles are handed so you will have to choose left and/or right hand variants when adding to basket. Handed items are also available in pairs for simplicity.
